Surrey, BC – A man is in hospital following a shooting in South Surrey late Tuesday night. The incident took place at a condo complex near 151st Street and 33rd Avenue, an area typically known for its tranquility.

Gunfire erupted around 11:15 p.m. in the parking lot of the clubhouse at the Harvard Gardens complex. Witnesses reported hearing up to 20 gunshots. Upon arrival, Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds.

“Officers immediately provided first aid, and Surrey Fire Services along with BCEHS paramedics attended the scene to assist. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical but stable condition,” said Sgt. Tige Pollock of the SPS in a statement released early Wednesday morning.

Shortly after the shooting, the Surrey RCMP Gang Enforcement Team identified a suspect vehicle. As officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspects tried to escape but crashed near 194th Street and 32nd Avenue.

A grey Dodge pickup truck was found wrapped around a streetlight, and two men were arrested with the assistance of Integrated Police Dog Services.

The RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit, General Investigations Unit, and Serious Crimes Unit are actively investigating the case.

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502 or reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
