Surrey, B.C. – The City of Surrey’s Our City campaign has reached a major milestone in 2025, with hundreds of residents coming together to complete 140 neighbourhood projects, clean-ups, and community events aimed at beautifying communities across the city.
“This year’s campaign highlights the incredible energy and commitment of Surrey residents working together to strengthen our community,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “From neighbourhood cleanups and block parties to creative beautification projects, people came together to make Surrey a more vibrant and connected place to live. On behalf of Council, thank you to everyone who helped make such a meaningful difference.”
Now in its third year, Our City continues to inspire civic pride and empower residents to take action in improving their neighbourhoods. In 2025 alone, over 100 clean-ups and community events were organized by residents, while the City hosted 34 Our City-led events that attracted more than 700 participants — a sharp increase from nearly 570 participants in 23 events the previous year. Volunteer involvement also grew significantly, with 126 volunteers contributing more than 450 hours of service.
The 2025 campaign kicked off with the creation of a vibrant community mural at Ted Kuhn Towers and wrapped up with a colourful pop-up street barrier painting in City Centre, organized in collaboration with the Youth Event Squad.
Since its launch, Our City has supported around 300 neighbourhood improvement projects throughout Surrey, ranging from mini sharing gardens and little free libraries to fence beautification and outdoor murals.
Residents interested in enhancing their neighbourhoods can apply for Neighbourhood Enhancement Grants of up to $3,000, available year-round to support community projects and clean-ups.
