Surrey, B.C. – Surrey North MLA Mandeep Dhaliwal of the Conservative Party has voiced strong support for nurses’ safety, joining the BC Nurses’ Union pledge to advocate for safer workplaces and stronger protections for health care workers across the province.
“I come from a family of nurses—my wife, my sister, my sister-in-law, and my aunt are all nurses,” Dhaliwal said. “I’ve seen their dedication, compassion, and the strength it takes to care for others every single day.”
Dhaliwal emphasized that violence has no place in health care, adding, “Violence is still not part of the job. No nurse should ever have to fear for their safety while doing their duty.”
The MLA’s pledge underscores a growing call for the provincial government to address rising incidents of workplace violence in hospitals and care facilities.
“Today, I proudly took the MLA pledge with the BC Nurses’ Union to stand up for safer workplaces and stronger protections for nurses across B.C.,” Dhaliwal stated. “To every nurse—we see you, we stand with you, and we’ll keep fighting to make sure you’re protected.”
The BC Nurses’ Union continues to advocate for comprehensive safety measures, including increased security, improved staffing levels, and stronger enforcement of zero-tolerance policies toward violence in health care settings.
