Surrey, BC – A 49-year-old man from Surrey has died following a violent collision between two transport trucks on Highway 1 just north of Lytton, and investigators say additional witnesses and video footage will be critical in determining whether criminal driving behaviour played a role.

The crash occurred on November 24, 2025, shortly before 9:00 a.m. on the Tank Hill Bridge. According to BC Highway Patrol, a blue northbound Kenworth tractor-trailer hauling two empty flat-deck trailers collided head-on with a southbound green Volvo tractor-trailer towing two enclosed trailers.

The driver of the Volvo, a Surrey resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Kenworth, a 38-year-old man from Chilliwack, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“Some key witnesses have already spoken to police, and investigators are looking into the driving behaviour of both trucks leading up to the crash,” said Corporal Michael McLaughlin of BC Highway Patrol. “If you have dash camera video, or you saw either of these trucks on the road, police need to speak to you.”

Investigators are now urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or who captured dash-camera footage in the area at the time, to come forward. Information can be provided to BC Highway Patrol – Kamloops at 250-828-3111, quoting file (2100) 2025-3960.

Police say the findings from witness accounts and video evidence will be essential in determining the cause of the deadly crash.
