Surrey, BC – Surrey Police, in partnership with BNSF Railway, recently conducted patrols along the rail line between Crescent Beach and the U.S. border to address ongoing public safety concerns.
During just one shift, officers issued two trespass violation tickets, 17 trespass warnings, and even helped extinguish two unauthorized fires on the beach.
“Proactive policing helps keep Surrey safe this summer,” said Surrey Police in a statement.
The enforcement effort comes after a recent incident in White Rock, where a stalled train near the pier prompted some pedestrians to dangerously crawl under the stopped train to cross the tracks.
White Rock RCMP has already issued a strong reminder to the public: “A stopped train can move without warning. Stay off the tracks, follow signals, and use designated crossings.”
Authorities say continued patrols and community awareness are key to preventing accidents along the busy waterfront rail corridor.
