Surrey, BC – The Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) of the RCMP is investigating a serious collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred this afternoon in South Surrey.
Shortly after 2:00 p.m., emergency responders were called to the intersection of 24 Avenue and 152 Street following reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male pedestrian suffering from serious injuries. He was transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS). While his injuries are serious, they are not considered life-threatening.
The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation. Early reports suggest that impairment is not believed to be a factor in the collision.
As of this time, the intersection at 24 Avenue and 152 Street remains closed to traffic as police conduct their investigation. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
