Lahore- The Punjab government in Pakistan has approved the Sikh Marriage Act, effective immediately, to facilitate the Sikh community. Now, Sikh couples above 18 can marry under the new “Anand Karaj” law.

“The government is committed to protecting minority rights, and this move is seen as a significant step. The Minister for Minorities Affairs, Sardar Ramesh Arora, highlighted that this initiative has received attention in Indian Punjab’s media, showcasing Pakistan as a minority-friendly country.”according to Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabndhak Committee.

“The government is also working on rules for the Hindu Marriage Act and has taken other initiatives to support minority communities, including a special grant for Christian families and a visit by Chief Minister Maryam to a Sikh Gurdwara Sahib.” Says PSGPC.
