Surrey, B.C. – Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers are investigating a shooting incident at a local business in what may be an attempted extortion case.
The incident occurred sometime between August 23 and the morning of August 25, 2025. At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Monday, August 25, SPS Frontline officers responded to a report of a possible mischief or attempted break-in at a business in the 12800 block of 80 Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers discovered several bullet holes in the door of the business, indicating shots had been fired from outside. A thorough search of the premises and neighbouring businesses confirmed that no injuries were reported.
The Surrey Police Service Frontline Investigative Support (FLIS) Team has taken over the investigation. Officers remain on scene, collecting evidence and canvassing the area for surveillance footage.
While the investigation is still in its early stages, police say initial evidence suggests the motive may be linked to extortion.
SPS is urging anyone with information or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage from the area over the weekend to come forward. Witnesses are asked to contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 25-72804 (SP).
