Chandigarh- In a significant development, the Governor of Punjab and Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala, has appointed Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, as the acting Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala.
As per an official notification issued by the Governor’s Secretariat, Punjab Raj Bhavan, Chandigarh, Prof. Singh will assume the additional charge for a period of six months or until the appointment of a regular incumbent, whichever is earlier.
The order was issued under Section 9-A(4) of the Punjabi University Act, 1961, empowering the Governor to make temporary arrangements in the absence of a permanent Vice Chancellor. The decision ensures the smooth functioning of the university’s academic and administrative affairs.
Prof. Karamjeet Singh, a seasoned academician and administrator, is currently serving as the Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. His appointment is expected to bring stability to Punjabi University, Patiala, which has been facing administrative challenges in recent months.
