
Ottawa, ON – Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping today during the APEC Summit, calling the meeting a “turning point in the bilateral relationship between Canada and China.”
In a post on X, Prime Minister Carney stated, “We are committed to renewing the relationship in a pragmatic and constructive way. We each directed our officials to move quickly to resolve outstanding trade issues and irritants, and we look forward to making progress on these issues as we strengthen ties between our two countries.”
The meeting marks a significant step toward rebuilding diplomatic and economic engagement between Canada and China following years of strained relations.
