Surrey, B.C. – A man is in custody following a police incident involving a firearm at a South Surrey residence.

On July 30, 2025, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Surrey Police Service (SPS) was alerted by Richmond RCMP about a man reportedly armed with a firearm inside a home near 158 Street and 20 Avenue in District 5 (South Surrey).

SPS officers quickly responded and contained the area with support from the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service (IPDS) and the RCMP’s AIR1 urban patrol helicopter.

Trained SPS negotiators successfully made contact with the individual, who surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody without incident.

The SPS Frontline Investigative Support Team (FLIST) has taken over the ongoing investigation.

No injuries were reported, and police confirm there is no ongoing risk to the public.
