Surrey- More than two million British Columbians cast their ballots in the 2024 provincial election, with results too close to call late into Saturday night. As the province awaits the final tally, voters have elected 93 members to the Legislative Assembly, with 47 seats required for a majority government.
This election is particularly notable following a redistribution of electoral boundaries, which saw the addition of six new ridings across B.C. The new seats include four in the Lower Mainland, one on Vancouver Island, and one in the Interior, increasing the total from 87 to 93.
With the election outcome still on a knife edge, political analysts expect the final result to hinge on a few key ridings. As pollsters had predicted, this election is shaping up to be one of the closest in B.C.’s recent history.
