Surrey, B.C. – A new heated picnic shelter will soon be built at Chimney Heights Park, offering residents a warm and accessible space to gather year-round.

Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke visited the park for a photo opportunity alongside Council Member Pardeep Kooner and Harry Bains to mark the announcement.

The project stems from community feedback collected through the Focus Newton initiative, which highlighted the need for spaces where people can connect regardless of the season.

“Improvements like this may seem small, but they make a real difference in daily life — helping residents stay connected in every season,” said Mayor Brenda Locke.

The heated picnic shelter is expected to be a welcome addition for families, community groups, and park-goers looking to enjoy the outdoors while staying warm during colder months.
