Surrey, BC – Metro Vancouver’s annual outdoor water restrictions are now in effect, running from May 1 through October 15. These Stage 1 restrictions apply across the region, including the City of Surrey, to help conserve the region’s treated drinking water during the drier months.
What’s Allowed Under Stage 1:
- Lawn Watering (Residential):
- Even-numbered addresses: Saturdays
- Odd-numbered addresses: Sundays
- Automatic watering: 5:00–7:00 a.m.
- Manual watering: 6:00–9:00 a.m.
- Lawn Watering (Non-residential):
- Even-numbered addresses: Mondays
- Odd-numbered addresses: Tuesdays
- Automatic watering: 4:00–6:00 a.m.
- Manual watering: 6:00–9:00 a.m.
- Edible Plants Gardens: Can be watered any time, any day.
- Trees, Shrubs, and Flowers:
- Residential sprinklers: 5:00–9:00 a.m. any day
- Non-residential sprinklers: 4:00–9:00 a.m. any day
- Hand watering or drip irrigation: Allowed anytime, any day
- Washing Cars or Boats: Permitted anytime using a hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle on gravel or paved areas that prevent water from entering storm drains. Commercial car washes are recommended.
- Pressure Washing Outdoor Surfaces: Allowed anytime using a handheld hose or pressure washer.
- Filling Pools, Hot Tubs, or Water Features: Permitted at any time.
Residents are reminded that all hoses must be equipped with an automatic shut-off nozzle.
