Vancouver – In a major drug interception, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Border Services Officers in Metro Vancouver Commercial Operations seized 78 bricks of cocaine weighing 204.5 kilograms from a marine shipment arriving from Panama on September 3, 2025.
The shipment, declared as paint pigment, drew further scrutiny from officers. With assistance from the CBSA Detector Dog Team, officers discovered the cocaine concealed inside containers filled with red liquid and coated in a white paste in an attempt to avoid detection.
The seized narcotics have been turned over to the RCMP Federal Policing – Pacific Region, Drugs and Organized Crime unit, which has now taken carriage of the investigation.
Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree applauded the coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies, emphasizing the importance of their work in safeguarding Canadian communities.
“The CBSA and RCMP are doing critical work protecting our borders and disrupting criminal networks. This seizure demonstrates the lengths criminals will go to try to sell illegal drugs in our country. It also shows the skill and dedication of the CBSA and RCMP in stopping them,” said Minister Anandasangaree.
The investigation remains ongoing.
