Surrey, B.C. – Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating an overnight shooting that left one man injured following a confrontation in the parking lot of Mud Bay Park.
At approximately 12:15 a.m. on June 23, hospital staff contacted SPS after a man arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. Officers attended the hospital and, after interviewing the victim and several witnesses, determined the shooting had taken place earlier in the evening at Mud Bay Park.
According to police, the incident involved a confrontation between two groups of men in the park’s parking lot. The victim, a man in his 20s, was transported to the hospital by friends. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.
The Surrey Police Frontline Investigative Support Team (FLIST) is now leading the investigation. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and no suspect descriptions are currently available.
