
Surrey, BC- Criminal Code charges have been approved against a man in connection with a shooting incident that took place on the afternoon of October 6, 2025, in Surrey’s Whalley neighbourhood.
At approximately 3:13 p.m., officers with the Surrey Police Service (SPS) responded to multiple reports of shots fired near Gateway SkyTrain Station and the intersection of 108 Avenue and King George Boulevard. According to police, the alleged suspect then proceeded to the SPS District 1 Community Police Office, where additional shots were fired.
The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident without any reported injuries to the public or officers. Following the investigation, 34-year-old Jose Digno Rodriguez Centeno has been charged with multiple offences under the Criminal Code of Canada, including:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm (Section 91(1))
- Pointing a firearm (Section 87(1))
- Reckless discharge of a firearm (Section 244.2(1)(b))
- Assaulting a police officer (Section 270)
- Resisting or willfully obstructing a police officer (Section 129(a))
Rodriguez Centeno has been remanded in custody, and his next court appearance is scheduled for October 10, 2025.
The Surrey Police Service continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and is urging anyone with additional information or video footage from the area to contact investigators.
