Man Arrested After Violent Assault and Robbery in Stanley Park Bathroom

Vancouver, B.C. – May 20, 2025: A suspect has been arrested and charged following a disturbing incident in Stanley Park on Monday, where a woman was allegedly attacked, robbed, and sexually assaulted in a public bathroom near Second Beach.

Vancouver Police say the assault occurred shortly before 11 a.m., after a witness reported a suspicious man entering the women’s changing room near the Second Beach pool. Responding officers discovered a woman in her 40s who had been violently assaulted and robbed.

Police quickly located and arrested the suspect nearby. The victim was transported to hospital and is currently receiving treatment for her injuries.

Hartley Ronald Duckhorn, 35, has been charged with multiple serious offences, including:

  • Assault by choking,
  • Unlawful confinement,
  • Sexual assault with a weapon,
  • Robbery,
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

Duckhorn remains in custody as he awaits a bail hearing. Vancouver Police continue to investigate the incident.

Authorities are urging anyone with additional information or who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area to come forward.
