Surrey, B.C. – August 6, 2025: A loaded handgun has been seized and an investigation is underway following a late-night traffic stop by Surrey Police Service’s Gang Crime Unit (SPS GCU).
At approximately 11:30 p.m. on August 5, SPS GCU officers were patrolling near 64 Avenue and 126 Street when they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. Officers observed cannabis products inside the vehicle, prompting a search.
During the search, officers located a baton and a loaded handgun. The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was arrested at the scene.
The vehicle, cannabis, baton, and firearm were seized. The firearm will be sent for forensic testing. The driver has been released pending further investigation.
Surrey Police say the investigation remains active as they continue to assess the circumstances surrounding the incident.
