Nepean, ON – The Liberal Party of Canada has revoked the nomination of sitting MP Chandra Arya as its candidate for the upcoming federal election in the Nepean riding.
A letter dated March 20, 2025, from Andrew Bevan, Designate of the National Campaign Co-Chair, states that after a thorough review by the Green Light Committee, the National Campaign Co-Chair recommended the revocation of Arya’s candidacy. The letter does not specify the reasons for the decision but mentions that it was based on “new information.”
Responding to the decision, Arya expressed disappointment but remained proud of his service. “While this news is deeply disappointing, it does not diminish the profound honour and privilege it has been to serve the people of Nepean — and all Canadians — as their Member of Parliament since 2015,” he said.
Arya has represented Nepean as a Liberal MP for nearly a decade. The party has yet to announce a new candidate for the riding.
