Ottawa- In a heartfelt announcement, Justin Trudeau has stepped down as leader of the Liberal Party and Prime Minister of Canada. Addressing Canadians, Trudeau reflected on his journey since 2015, expressing gratitude for the resilience and generosity of the nation.

“Every morning I woke up as Prime Minister, I was inspired by Canadians who rallied together during the pandemic, strengthened free trade, and supported each other in times of need,” Trudeau said.

He revealed that the decision came after long discussions with his family, whose unwavering support he credited for his success. Trudeau shared that he informed his children of the decision over dinner last night.

Emphasizing his commitment to democratic values, Trudeau remarked, “This country deserves a real choice in the next election.” While acknowledging his fighting spirit, he conceded that Canada’s parliament has been “paralyzed for months” under what he described as the longest session of a minority government in the country’s history.

As Trudeau steps down, his resignation marks the end of a political era defined by his leadership on issues such as climate change, middle-class growth, and navigating the nation through global crises. The Liberal Party now faces the challenge of choosing a new leader to shape its future.
