Surrey, B.C. – A dramatic house fire broke out late Monday night in Surrey’s Cloverdale neighborhood, leaving one home heavily damaged and others impacted by smoke and water. The blaze occurred on 66A Avenue near 180 Street, with initial reports suggesting a possible connection to an electric vehicle (EV) parked at the residence.
The fire started shortly after 9:00 p.m. on June 2, drawing a swift response from Surrey Fire Service. Crews worked aggressively to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to adjacent homes in the densely populated area.
“Firefighters did an excellent job of stopping the fire from jumping to nearby properties,” said one neighbour. “It could have been much worse.”
While the official cause remains under investigation, multiple neighbours told local media they believe the fire may have started with an electric vehicle parked at the residence. However, Surrey Fire Services has not yet confirmed the source.
Residents of neighboring homes were temporarily evacuated as a precaution. No injuries have been reported at this time.
The primary home involved suffered extensive structural damage, while several others experienced smoke infiltration and water damage from firefighting efforts.
Investigators remain on scene to determine the exact cause. More details are expected to be released once the investigation is complete.
