Surrey, BC – October 21, 2025: The full closure of Fraser Highway between 140 Street and 96 Avenue has been extended until mid-December 2025, as construction continues on the new Green Timbers Station — part of the Surrey-Langley SkyTrain extension project.
The closure, originally announced in March and implemented on April 1, was scheduled to end earlier but will now remain in place to safely advance key stages of construction and minimize future traffic pattern changes.
Work in the area includes utility installation for SkyTrain power supply, roadwork, foundation construction, and guideway and station building. Officials emphasize that this extension will not affect the overall SkyTrain project timeline.
The closure affects all vehicle lanes, sidewalks, and multi-use pathways along Fraser Highway between 140 Street and 96 Avenue. Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians are advised to use 96 Avenue as the primary alternate route.
Additionally, intermittent overnight lane closures will continue along Fraser Highway between 96 Avenue and 148 Street, typically between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Traffic control personnel and signage are in place to assist travelers.
For the latest bus service updates, commuters are encouraged to visit TransLink.ca, and for ongoing construction and traffic details, check the weekly traffic advisory posted on the project’s website.
Authorities thank the public for their continued patience and cooperation during this major infrastructure upgrade aimed at improving future transit connectivity in Surrey and the Fraser Valley.
