Vancouver- Fraser Health has announced the retirement of Board Chair Jim Sinclair, who has completed his term after serving in the role since September 2017. Sinclair reflected on his tenure, highlighting key achievements such as navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, increasing health care worker recruitment, and advancing reconciliation with Indigenous communities.
“I am very proud of the work we have accomplished together over the past seven-and-a-half years,” said Sinclair. “I have immense respect and gratitude for the Fraser Health executive team and all the people who deliver health care for two million Fraser Health residents every day.”
Vice Chair Opreet Kang, who also reached the end of her term, has accepted a one-year interim appointment as Chair while Fraser Health continues its search for a new permanent president and CEO. Kang, who has served on the Board of Directors since 2017, emphasized the importance of addressing global health care worker shortages and strengthening services for Fraser Health communities.
“In the coming weeks and months, the Board will focus on supporting health care workers, strengthening services, and recruiting a new president and CEO as quickly as possible,” said Kang.
Her appointment ensures continuity and stability as Fraser Health moves forward in tackling ongoing challenges in the health care system.
