Surrey, BC — Former Surrey Mayor Doug McCallum has released a bold ‘To-Do List’ outlining major projects that he believes are critical for Surrey’s development. McCallum is urging both the BC NDP and BC Conservative parties to commit to these initiatives during the upcoming election campaign.
McCallum’s list calls for the following projects:
– SkyTrain extension to Newton;
– A third brand-new hospital;
– Two new ICBC offices;
– A multi-sports stadium in Fleetwood;
– Two new community centres;
– Widening of 16th Avenue;
– Six lanes for the Pattullo Bridge;
– Removal of all school portables and construction of two multi-story schools per year for five years;
– Streamlining healthcare;
– Affordable housing for young families.
“These are not just wish-list items; they are essential projects that will shape Surrey’s future and address the critical needs of our residents,” McCallum stated. “I am calling on each party to pledge to deliver these projects during the election campaign. Surrey residents deserve leaders who will step up and take action.”
McCallum emphasized that Surrey has long been neglected in terms of infrastructure, healthcare, and education funding, adding, “The people of Surrey have been treated as second-class citizens for far too long. This ‘To-Do List’ for Surrey is not just about catching up; it’s about building the future our residents deserve. It’s time to start fixing from the foundations.”
McCallum’s call to action is expected to spark debate during the upcoming election campaign as parties respond to his ambitious vision for Surrey’s future.
