New Delhi – Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and MLA from Punjab, Jagbir Singh Brar, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today. The induction took place at the party headquarters in New Delhi, with BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh present. Prior to joining AAP about a year ago, Brar was a member of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and won the Jalandhar Cantonment seat on a SAD ticket in the 2007 Assembly elections.
He also served as president of the Congress’s Jalandhar district unit in the past, BJP national spokesperson Shahzad Poonawalla told reporters at a press conference at the party headquarters.
Brar criticized AAP for not fulfilling promises and claimed that Punjab is regressing under their governance. This move comes amidst a series of political shifts in Punjab, including the joining of former Akali Dal MLA Darshan Singh Kotfatta to AAP.
