Surrey, BC – At approximately 8:45 am on Sunday morning, officers from the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operational Support Unit and Surrey Police Service (SPS) responded to an alert from Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). A white pickup truck with Washington State plates reportedly drove through the Pacific Highway Border Crossing without stopping.
Officers began efforts to locate the vehicle, which was soon observed traveling northbound on King George Boulevard near 64th Avenue. The driver was reportedly driving erratically, including crossing into oncoming traffic.
SPS officers successfully intercepted the vehicle and arrested the driver, the lone occupant, without incident. While some vehicles sustained damage, no injuries were reported to officers, the suspect, or other drivers.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
