SURREY, B.C. — Conservative Party of B.C. Leader Lorne Doerkson has pledged that a government led by him would impose no new taxes on British Columbians throughout its term.
Doerkson made the commitment on September 27, saying families have been squeezed by tax increases under the NDP government and promising to keep more money in taxpayers’ pockets.
“Our party is unified and ready to deliver the change British Columbians deserve,” Doerkson said. “Under my government, there will be no new taxes.”
The Conservative leader criticized the NDP’s record on income taxes, PST changes and housing-related taxation. He also argued that British Columbians are paying more while facing challenges with health-care access, infrastructure, housing affordability and public safety.
The Conservatives have recently made opposition to tax increases a central campaign message, including criticism of the NDP’s proposed housing tax measures.
The B.C. provincial election is scheduled for October 24, 2026.
