SURREY, B.C. — White Rock Mayor Megan Knight will run as the Conservative Party of British Columbia’s candidate in Surrey South, party leader Lorne Doerkson announced today.
Doerkson welcomed Knight to the party, describing her as a hard-working leader focused on accountability, financial responsibility and delivering results.
Knight grew up as one of 14 children and later operated her own small business. She served on White Rock City Council from 2014 to 2018 before being elected mayor in 2022.
As mayor, Knight says she has focused on meeting with residents, businesses, community groups, City staff and regional partners. Her record includes securing $25.9 million in federal funding for restoration of the White Rock pier, advancing work on the Community Hub and strengthening partnerships with Semiahmoo First Nation, Surrey and regional agencies.
“My door has always been open, and it always will be,” Knight said. “I don’t have all the answers, and I’ve never pretended to. What I do have is a work ethic and a promise to tell people the truth.”
Knight said families in Surrey South are facing increasing financial pressures and deserve a government that respects their money and earns their trust.
With her nomination, Knight will now seek to represent the Conservatives in Surrey South in the upcoming provincial election.
