Ottawa, Canada – The federal government has announced the next phase of the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), ensuring that millions more Canadians will gain access to affordable dental care. In its first year, the program has already approved over 3.4 million Canadians, with 1.7 million having received care to date.
Today, the Honourable Kamal Khera, Minister of Health, alongside the Honourable Ali Ehsassi, Minister of Government Transformation, Public Services and Procurement, confirmed that starting May 2025, all remaining eligible Canadians aged 18 to 64 will be able to apply for the CDCP, with coverage beginning as early as June 1, 2025.
Application Schedule by Age Group:
• May 1: Ages 55 to 64
• May 15: Ages 18 to 34
• May 29: Ages 35 to 54
To qualify for the CDCP, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Not have access to dental insurance
• Have filed their 2024 tax return (as well as their spouse’s or common-law partner’s, if applicable)
• Have an adjusted family net income of less than $90,000
• Be a Canadian resident for tax purposes
Eligible individuals can apply online, by phone, or at a Service Canada Centre.
Minister Khera emphasized that the CDCP is a crucial step toward improving access to essential dental care, ensuring that cost is no longer a barrier for millions of Canadians. The federal government remains committed to expanding healthcare services and providing relief to those in need.
