Ottawa, ON – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has issued a strong response after the United States imposed new tariffs on Canada, calling it a trade war against their closest partner and ally.

“Canadians are reasonable, but we will not back down from a fight. Not when our country is at stake,” Trudeau declared.

In immediate retaliation, Canada has announced 25% tariffs on $155 billion worth of American goods. The first wave of $30 billion in tariffs takes effect immediately, with the remaining $125 billion set to be implemented in 21 days.

The move marks a significant escalation in tensions between the two countries, with economic repercussions expected on both sides of the border.
