VICTORIA, B.C. — Premier David Eby has announced a significant cabinet shuffle aimed at prioritizing job creation, economic growth, and the evolving needs of communities across British Columbia. The newly formed cabinet reflects a bold step toward building a more resilient, inclusive, and future-focused province.
“We need to be responsive to the changing needs of our province by growing our economy, seizing new opportunities, and making our essential services more resilient,” said Premier Eby. “We have the skills and determination both at the cabinet table and in caucus to stand up for British Columbians.”
Premier Eby also thanked outgoing cabinet members Garry Begg and George Chow for their years of dedicated service. Both will continue serving British Columbians in newly appointed roles as parliamentary secretaries.
The updated cabinet includes eight new ministerial roles designed to align the government with today’s most pressing challenges. The changes include:
- Ravi Kahlon as Minister of Jobs and Economic Growth;
- Nina Krieger as Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General;
- Jessie Sunner as Minister of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills;
- Christine Boyle as Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs;
- Diana Gibson as Minister of Citizens’ Services;
- Anne Kang as Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport;
- Spencer Chandra-Herbert as Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation; and
- Rick Glumac as Minister of State for AI and New Technologies.
This marks Premier Eby’s third cabinet and brings together a mix of experienced ministers and new voices, including two new appointees to cabinet. The team is focused on strengthening public services, seizing investment opportunities, and reducing the province’s economic reliance on the United States.
The cabinet also represents the diversity of British Columbia. It includes 19 women, making up a majority of the ministers, as well as eight people of colour, one Jewish member, and one Indigenous member. Members come from across the province — Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland, the North, and the Interior — bringing a wide range of regional perspectives to decision-making.
Backgrounds of cabinet members span policing, technology, business, health care, non-profits, and local government, ensuring policies are rooted in real-world experience. In total, 14 cabinet members have served at least one full term, while 10 were first appointed in 2024.
New parliamentary secretaries were also announced, including Amna Shah (anti-racism initiatives, mental health and addictions), Garry Begg (Surrey infrastructure), George Chow (Downtown Eastside and Chinatown), and Paul Choi (trade).
Premier Eby’s refreshed cabinet aims to bring the perspectives and energy of a new generation, combined with experienced leadership, to build a stronger and more sustainable future for all British Columbians.
