Vancouver—To prevent anticipated clashes, a B.C. Supreme Court judge has ordered a buffer zone around the Ross Street Gurdwara, one of B.C.’s largest Sikh temples, before consular events scheduled for Nov. 2 and Nov. 16. Organized by the Khalsa Diwan Society, these “consular camps” offer seniors of Indian descent a local option to address pension-related tasks (Life Certificates) without visiting Vancouver’s consulate. Following RCMP allegations against Indian officials, the temple anticipates heightened protests. The court’s buffer order bans any form of protest, sidewalk blocking, or intimidation within 50 metres around the temple property.
