Surrey, BC –Anita Huberman has officially ended her bid to become the Conservative Party of Canada’s candidate for Surrey Centre, citing party regulations on membership duration as the sole reason for her withdrawal.
In a statement released today, Huberman expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support she received throughout her candidacy journey. However, she explained that under the party’s administrative qualification rules, all nominees must hold a Conservative Party membership for a full six months. Huberman, who meets all other requirements, falls just three weeks short of this deadline.
“As a result, the press conference scheduled for February 27 is cancelled,” she announced, emphasizing that her withdrawal is not related to her qualifications, leadership experience, or dedication to the community, but rather a rule equally applied to all candidates.
Huberman reaffirmed her commitment to Surrey, pledging to continue her efforts in economic development, public safety, and business growth. While her immediate political aspirations are on hold, she hinted at future opportunities to serve in leadership roles.
