Chandigarh— The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) held a significant meeting in Chandigarh today, where several key resolutions were passed. The gathering saw party leaders and members discuss crucial issues and outline future plans to strengthen the party’s position in Punjab.
One of the major resolutions was the decision to hold a three-day Delegate Session in November at Anandpur Sahib. This session is set to address all important issues related to Punjab and develop a long-term agenda for the party’s future. This initiative reflects the party’s commitment to engaging with pressing state matters and charting a strategic course forward.
In addition, the party announced a series of political conferences scheduled for this month. On August 15, a conference will be held at Isru village to honor the martyrdom of Shaheed Karnail Singh Isru. This will be followed by a conference on August 19 at Baba Bakala on the occasion of Rakhar Punya. Lastly, on August 20, a conference will take place at Longowal to commemorate the death anniversary of Sant Harchand Singh Longowal. These events highlight the party’s efforts to connect with the public and honor significant historical figures.
During the meeting, party president Sukhbir Singh Badal took a strong stance against the political vendetta being unleashed against S. Bikram S. Majithia by the AAP government. Badal expressed complete solidarity with Majithia, emphasizing the party’s support for its senior leader amidst the ongoing political challenges.
The Working Committee and Core Committee also confirmed the disciplinary actions taken on July 30 and August 1, which saw the expulsion of some leaders for indulging in anti-party activities. This move underscores the party’s commitment to maintaining discipline and unity within its ranks.
Moreover, both Committees authorized the party president to fill vacancies in the Working Committee caused by the death of some members and the departure or expulsion of others. This decision aims to ensure the effective functioning of the party’s leadership.
Lastly, the SAD announced its intention to contest all four forthcoming by-elections with full energy. Observers and co-observers for these constituencies will be appointed soon, reflecting the party’s readiness to engage in the electoral process with vigor and determination.
These resolutions reflect the party’s strategic planning and its commitment to addressing both internal and external challenges, ensuring a robust approach to the upcoming political landscape in Punjab.
