Abbotsford, B.C. – Policing is a true team effort at the Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD), no matter which section an officer serves in.
On October 23, just after 11 a.m., an AbbyPD Plainclothes Youth Squad Officer entered a convenience store in the 32700 block of George Ferguson Way. The store clerk asked for help with a man outside who was causing problems for customers and refusing to leave.
When the officer approached and attempted to identify the man, it was discovered that he was wanted for Breach of Probation. Further investigation revealed that the suspect was also violating a court-ordered condition by being in a prohibited area of the community, stemming from a previous arrest.
The man, identified as 38-year-old Matthew Santoro, who is well known to police for his extensive criminal history, was arrested and charged once again with Breach of Probation. He remains in custody, with his next bail hearing scheduled for October 27.
AbbyPD says their officers continue to work tirelessly to address repeat offenders and keep the community safe.
