
SURREY, B.C. — Surrey Police Service (SPS) is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two teenage suspects involved in a bear spray assault outside a South Surrey business on May 31, 2026.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:00 p.m. outside the Menchies Frozen Yogurt store at 15775 Croydon Drive in South Surrey. According to police, a male youth was sitting on a bench when he was approached by an unknown teenage male who allegedly sprayed him with bear spray while another teen recorded the assault on a cell phone.
The suspect who allegedly deployed the bear spray is described as a White male in his teens with shaggy brown hair, approximately 5-foot-4 in height. He was wearing a light-coloured hoodie, red shirt, black shorts, black shoes, and a cross-body bag. Police say he may have been pushed around in a blue shopping cart prior to the incident.
The second suspect, who allegedly filmed the assault, is described as a Middle Eastern male in his teens with short black curly hair, approximately 5-foot-6. He had his right hand wrapped in medical tape and was wearing a black T-shirt with white designs, black pants with large white designs, white shoes, and a cross-body bag.
Police have identified and spoken with the victim, who is described as a Middle Eastern teenage male with black curly hair, approximately 5-foot-6 tall. He was wearing a black hoodie, light blue jeans, and black clog-style shoes. SPS says the victim’s description is being released in the hope that witnesses may remember seeing the incident.
Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the assault or has information about the identity of the two suspects to contact the Surrey Police Service non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2026-54451 (SP).
