Surrey, B.C. – Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers have arrested a 26-year-old man wanted by Peel Regional Police Service (PRPS) on a Canada-wide warrant for extortion and firearms offences.
On July 11, 2025, PRPS received a report from a complainant alleging they were the victim of extortion and a shooting. Following their investigation, PRPS investigators obtained a Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of Gurdeep Shergill.
On September 7, 2025, SPS Frontline members became aware of Shergill’s presence in Surrey. Working closely with PRPS investigators, SPS officers tracked down and arrested him without incident. Shergill faces charges of discharging a firearm with intent, contrary to section 244(1) of the Criminal Code, and extortion, contrary to section 346(1) of the Criminal Code.
He has been transported back to Peel Region with the assistance of BC Corrections Sheriffs to appear in court for those charges. Surrey Police Service expressed gratitude to Peel Regional Police Service and BC Corrections Service for their cooperation.
