SURREY / NEW WESTMINSTER —Motorists are advised to plan ahead as the Pattullo Bridge will be fully closed in both directions from 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16 until 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, over the Victoria Day long weekend.
The closure is necessary for Fraser Crossing Partners to complete critical drainage installation and foundation work on the new bridge approaches in both New Westminster and Surrey. Crews will be excavating roadways and using bridge lanes for construction equipment, making all vehicle access across the bridge unavailable during this period.
Alternate Routes Recommended:
Drivers are urged to use the Port Mann Bridge or the Alex Fraser Bridge to cross the Fraser River.
Transit Impacts:
The N19 NightBus (northbound and southbound) will be rerouted via the Queensborough and Alex Fraser bridges, adding approximately 30 minutes to travel times. Passengers are encouraged to plan accordingly.
Pedestrian and Cyclist Access Maintained:
Despite the full closure to vehicle traffic, pedestrian and cyclist routes will remain open throughout the construction period.
This temporary disruption is part of ongoing work to replace the aging Pattullo Bridge with a safer, more modern crossing.
