Surrey, B.C. – Two men have been arrested and charged with Criminal Code offences following a Surrey Police Service (SPS) investigation into an alleged shots fired incident in the early morning hours of January 26, 2026.
According to police, at approximately 3:50 a.m., SPS officers assigned to Project Assurance, working in collaboration with the SPS Major Crime Section, were in the area of 129 Street and 84 Avenue when they heard what they believed to be a gunshot. Officers quickly located a suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, taking the driver and a passenger into custody.
During the arrests, police discovered and seized a loaded handgun from the vehicle. Project Assurance is an SPS initiative that focuses on proactive patrols in neighbourhoods and business areas that have been targeted by extortions and extortion-related shootings.
The SPS Major Crime Section assumed conduct of the investigation, and two men have since been formally charged. Harshdeep Singh, a 20-year-old male, is charged with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and one count of occupying a vehicle knowing a firearm is present. Hanspreet Singh, a 21-year-old male, is charged with one count of occupying a vehicle knowing a firearm is present.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be laid as the case progresses. Both accused have been remanded in custody until January 30, 2026.
SPS confirmed that both men are foreign nationals and that the Canada Border Services Agency has been engaged.
