Surrey, BC – A Surrey man has been arrested and charged following a Surrey Police Service investigation into a shooting at a residence in the early morning hours of April 13, 2026.
According to police, the Surrey Police Service’s Extortion Response Team (ExRT) took over the investigation, identified a suspect vehicle, and obtained a search warrant as part of the ongoing probe.
ExRT officers, with assistance from the Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team and other SPS units, executed the warrant at a residence in Surrey. During the operation, Jaskaran Saroye was arrested without incident.
Saroye has now been charged with the Criminal Code offence of discharging a firearm into a place, knowing or being reckless as to whether someone was present.
Police say he remains in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing. His next scheduled court appearance is May 12.
“This arrest and charge reflect the determined work of our officers to hold those responsible for gun violence accountable,” said SPS Chief Norm Lipinski.
“Discharging a firearm into an occupied home is an extremely serious offence, and while we are thankful no one was physically harmed, incidents like this are profoundly dangerous and frightening for those affected. Our investigators will continue to pursue all individuals and networks involved in violent criminal activity.”
Anyone with information related to Saroye or the incident is asked to contact Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502, the Surrey Extortion Tip Line at 236-485-5149, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
