Surrey, B.C. – The City of Surrey has reintroduced its Free Waste Drop-Off program to support spring cleaning efforts and reduce illegal dumping across the city.
Running from May 4 to September 30, residents can dispose of up to 100 kg of household waste at no cost at the Central Surrey and North Surrey recycling and waste centres. Each household is allowed one free visit during the program period, which also includes the option to drop off large items such as up to four mattresses.
Mayor Brenda Locke emphasized the program’s importance, stating it provides a simple and accessible way for residents to dispose of unwanted items responsibly while helping keep neighbourhoods clean and safe.
Residents must show proof of Surrey residency to participate. Loads exceeding 100 kg will incur regular fees, and commercial or business vehicles are not permitted.
The city also noted that recyclables like electronics, metals, appliances, books, and clothing continue to be accepted free of charge year-round.
