Surrey,BC- Surrey authorities are increasing enforcement efforts as extortion-related incidents continue across the city. Road Safety officers are supporting the Surrey Police Service’s Project Assurance with proactive evening traffic checks to help strengthen community safety.
Project Assurance is a dedicated SPS team focused on protecting extortion victims and preventing extortion-related violence. Police say several individuals have been charged in connection with extortion investigations, multiple search warrants have been executed, and several suspects have been arrested. The Canada Border Services Agency has also removed some individuals from Canada.
Officials say public safety remains the top priority as enforcement and investigative efforts continue.
