Surrey, BC — In a powerful show of unity, federal, provincial, and municipal leaders convened in Surrey for a high-level Trilateral Summit focused on combating extortion and organized crime. The meeting brought together the B.C. Extortion Task Force, local police agencies, and government officials to strengthen coordinated efforts, enhance victim support, and make it safer for people to report threats.

“Everyone has the right to feel safe in their own home,” said B.C. Premier David Eby following the summit. “Our government stands united with the federal government and the Anti-Extortion Task Force to find these criminals, arrest them, and ensure that they face justice.”

The discussions centred on improved information-sharing, bolstering police collaboration, and expanding resources to protect victims targeted by extortion networks. Leaders emphasized the need for a unified, long-term approach as communities across B.C. continue to face growing threats linked to organized crime.

The summit underscored a shared commitment to stronger, united action for safer communities across the province.
