
Surrey, B.C. — Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating an early-morning shots fired incident at a high-rise apartment building in Surrey’s City Centre neighbourhood.
Police say officers were called at approximately 12:30 a.m. on January 19, 2026, after receiving multiple reports of gunfire inside a high-rise apartment in the 9600 block of 136A Street. Officers quickly identified the suite where the shots originated and detained several people who were inside the apartment as part of the investigation.
Investigators believe that shots were fired both inside the suite and from a balcony. No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
SPS’s Frontline Investigative Support Team (FLIS) attended the scene, and the Major Crime Section has assumed conduct of the investigation. Police say the investigation is still in its early stages and the motive remains under investigation.
All individuals who were initially detained have since been released from custody, as inquiries continue.
