SURREY, BC – A shooting incident has been reported at the well-known York Centre plaza in Surrey on Saturday afternoon. According to early information, the target of the gunfire was Satish Accounting, a business linked to Satish Kumar, who is also known as the president of the Vedic Hindu Temple in Surrey.
Sources say the shooting may be connected to ongoing extortion threats. Just last week, another business owned by Satish Kumar — Reflection Banquet Hall — was also fired upon. Media reports indicate that the businessman has been receiving extortion threats demanding $2 million. However, Satish Kumar has taken a firm stand and refused to pay a single penny.
Instead, he has announced a $100,000 reward for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of those behind the extortion and attacks.
Police have confirmed that no injuries were reported in the latest shooting, though the incident narrowly avoided becoming a tragedy. Surrey Police officers quickly responded to the scene and are now reviewing CCTV footage in an effort to identify the suspects involved.
The boldness of the daylight attack in a busy commercial hub has caused concern and outrage among local business owners and residents.
In response to the rising threats and violence, Satish Kumar has organized a community meeting tomorrow at Reflection Banquet Hall, where business leaders, police officials, political representatives, and local citizens have been invited to discuss action and preventive measures against extortion and organized criminal threats.
The situation remains under investigation.
