NEW DELHI / OTTAWA – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that he has been invited to attend the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, later this month by newly elected Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
In a post shared on social media platform X at 6:00 AM IST, Modi said:
“Glad to receive a call from Prime Minister @MarkJCarney of Canada. Congratulated him on his recent election victory and thanked him for the invitation to the G7 Summit in Kananaskis later this month… Look forward to our meeting at the Summit.”
The 52nd G7 Summit is scheduled to take place from June 15 to 17, 2025, in Kananaskis, a scenic mountain region in Alberta which previously hosted the 28th G8 Summit in 2002.
Modi highlighted the importance of Indo-Canadian cooperation, calling both nations “vibrant democracies bound by deep people-to-people ties,” and expressed optimism about working together with “renewed vigour, guided by mutual respect and shared interests.”
