Gurdaspur – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Punjab and held a review meeting in Gurdaspur to assess the damage caused by the recent floods and landslides.

The Prime Minister announced a financial assistance package of Rs. 1,600 crore for Punjab, in addition to the Rs. 12,000 crore that is already available in the state’s disaster relief funds.

He further declared an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh for the next of kin of those who lost their lives, and Rs. 50,000 for those injured in the calamity. Children orphaned due to the disaster will receive comprehensive support under the PM CARES for Children scheme.

During his visit, PM Modi met families affected by the floods and expressed condolences for their loss. He also interacted with personnel of the NDRF, SDRF, and Aapda Mitra volunteers, lauding their tireless efforts in rescue and relief operations.

The Central Government has assured full support for the restoration and rebuilding of infrastructure in Punjab’s flood-hit areas.
