Chandigarh, May 19 2025 — Punjab Governor and university Chancellor Gulab Chand Kataria has appointed Dr Jagdeep Singh as the new Vice‑Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala.
Dr Singh, a native of Faridkot district, is presently Registrar at the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) and previously served as Registrar of a Central University. He succeeds Prof Arvind, who had also joined Punjabi University on deputation from IISER.
Under Section 13 of the Punjabi University Act 1961 (as amended), Dr Singh will hold a three‑year term beginning on the day he assumes office. Detailed terms and conditions of his appointment will be issued separately.
The appointment was formalised in a notification signed by Principal Secretary to the Governor, Vivek Pratap Singh, dated May 19 2025.
