Hamilton, ON – NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has unveiled a new tax cut aimed at easing financial pressures on middle-class Canadians. Singh announced that the NDP’s plan will save families over $1,450 annually by cutting taxes and permanently removing the GST from daily essentials.
“Billionaires don’t need a break — working people do,” Singh said. “The ultra-rich have Liberals and Conservatives looking out for them — I’m in it for you.”
Singh also raised concerns about the potential economic fallout from U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade policies, accusing Liberal Leader Mark Carney and Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre of siding with billionaires instead of protecting Canadian workers.
“There’s a storm on the horizon,” Singh warned. “When Donald Trump comes for Canada again, Carney and Poilievre will protect billionaires—just like they always have. And it’ll cost you. The NDP will fight so working and middle-class Canadians don’t get stuck with the bill.”
The NDP plan will Cut taxes for workers and families by raising the basic personal amount to $19,500—putting $505 back in the pockets of those earning between $19,500 and $177,882.
